Samuel  Karanja

Sam is responsible for strategic communication planning, crisis communications counsel, integrated communications counsel and implementation of plans and programmes. He brings a deep insights about the media and PR landscapes from various markets in the Africa continent having managed the several multi market businesses such as Airtel.  He also managed the H+K Strategies office in Nairobi before taking up his current role. His previous stint as a General Manager at Ogilvy PR saw him work with some of the leading multinational brands in the continent such as Coca-Cola, Nokia, HP, Microsoft, Unilever, Reckitt Benckiser, Celtel, amongst others.

Sam has over 19 years’ experience in various Public relations and marketing Communications facets such as financial/investor relations, crisis communications, Brand PR, Sports Sponsorship, social marketing, internal communications, behavior change communications, media relations and event management. He earned his stripes during his tenures at a leading media company with a presence in East Africa, two stints at leading Public Relations Consultancies and at a publicly listed retailer as a Communications Manager.

At H+K East Africa, Sam leads the H+K Financial a specialist financial communications offering that entails supporting organizations undertaking significant transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, listing and de-listing, private public partnerships among others. He is also an accomplished training facilitator in Media and Crisis communications.

Sam is a graduate of Daystar University in Nairobi where he attained a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. He is also an active board member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) and the Association of Public Relations and Communication Management firms (APReCoM).
